You can register on line for SPAC's Rock and Run 5K to be held this Sunday at the SPAC grounds inside the beautiful Saratoga Spa State Park. You must register by Monday June 14th to receive the reduced $27 fee.  The proceeds goes to SPAC’s Vivienne Anderson Program, an effort to give underserved children the opportunity to attend classical performances.  The kids 1K starts at 10, and the 5K at 10:30. It's a real nice run through the park, and here is a list of the bands performing along the way:

I'm very happy for John and Carolyn Davis, and their kids Johnnie and Jady, for this Tuesday's (May 15, 2012) grand opening of the new, year round, PJ's Bar-B-QSA Restaurant.  I definitely want to be there on its first day, and I imagine hundreds of others will be as well.  See you there!

Congratulations to the owners of Saratoga Olive Oil for not only getting through their first year, but for doing so well that they are expanding in Vermont!  This weekend the owners will be celebrating their one year anniversary and that means lots of treats, deals, and other promotions.   Stop by this Saturday May 5 (10am-7pm) or Sunday May 6 (10am-6pm) for FREE truffle popcorn made with their original Truffle Butter olive oil and Truffle Sea Salt. Yum!  As good as that sounds, that is certainly an adult indulgence that the kiddies may not appreciate, so they will also have free balloons to keep the little ones happy.   Plus there will be a prize wheel, a $100 gift basket giveaway and 10% off everything in the store.  See you there!

I saw Harold Ford, who is a Johnny Cash impersonator both in appearance and voice, a few years ago at First Night and I thought he was really good.  Johnny Cash is yet another musician that I wish I would have seen live, and I'm not saying that Mr. Ford's show is anything but an impersonation, but it's a very well-done and enjoyable one that I recommend.  He even has a June Carter impersonator in the show, Laura Lucy, and she is very good as well.  You can get tickets ($20) for this Friday's show (May 4, 2012) at the Saratoga Music Hall online here or by calling 518-863-0913.  The band's web site is Thejohnnycashband.com

It may still be April but some days last week felt more like July - so start thinking about summer and track season and register for the Silks and Satins 5K race to be held on July 21, 2012 on the East Side of Saratoga Springs.  It's a great race and goes through some historic neighborhoods, including past the track.  See you there!

And here's yet another sign that summer is coming - online registration for the Firecracker 4 Road Race  is now open.  This annual four mile road race will be held on (when else?) July fourth at 9am in front of the city center.  The course goes down Broadway and through the east side of Saratoga Springs concluding on Maple Avenue at the back of the City Center.  You can click on the above link to register.  See you there!
